The Comparison assessment is structured through tiers and characteristics. Tiers serve to format the document, while characteristics are the elements that can be evaluated within the assessment. Every assessment contains a tier 1, and may also include a tier 2, for characteristic groupings. Every characteristic line is assigned a weighting factor. The intersection between a product and a characteristic is subject to evaluation. The cumulative score for any given product is calculated by summing the product of each individual score and its corresponding characteristic weight.
